In the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the brilliant colors of autumn put on a show for visitors along Little River Road at the Sinks.

At an early age growing up in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, I was fascinated with photography but was never able to explore its possibilities with the little instamatic camera that I had. It really wasn't until 1994 as I prepared to go overseas as a volunteer with a Christian educational team in Russia that I invested in my first film SLR camera just days before leaving. Having no formal photography training, I taught myself how to use it by trial and error (lots of it!).
