About Rebecca Higgins
At an early age growing up in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, I was fascinated with photography but was never able to explore its possibilities with the little instamatic camera that I had. It really wasn't until 1994 as I prepared to go overseas as a volunteer with a Christian educational team in Russia that I invested in my first film SLR camera just days before leaving. Having no formal photography training, I taught myself how to use it by trial and error (lots of it!). The best thing I had going for me was that I had learned some basic principles of art composition back in my Fine Arts class in college and as editor of my college yearbook.
